READY TO GO SHOPPING?

Are you ready to go shopping alone?

Do you know the name of the products, fruits, vegetables, etc.? We are going to know it by playing a game!

In England we use pounds not euros (€), we need to know the name of the coins and the notes?

Now, it's time to check if you are ready to go shopping alone or you need to practice more before doing it! To start playing you have to go to the following link:

  1. Hi Ana!

I have just looked at your blog, great idea using authentic materials and involving elements from other subjects as math in this case.
The "word search puzzle" is an excellent way for children to learn while having fun, this is really good to create a positive attitude towards the language. I find the "video and questions" activity wonderful, as the video use vocabulary focus on a topic the students will feel like the learning has an aim in the real world, and this is really helpful for their learning process.

    Keep in toouch!

  2. Hi Ana!

I also liked this proposal a lot. I think it is very important to contextualize learning as you have done (without students learning vocabulary without any purpose).

I think it is important to teach the English culture to the little ones in this subject. In addition, you work on mathematical competence, something that we often forget in this subject.

    Sara

  3. Hello Ana!
How interesting is your idea! I'm sure it Will be exciting for students.
I think that your idea is innovative and interesting at the same time. They learn a new vocabulary what it would be useful in their daily routine. On the one hand, is a complete activity because they learn new vocabulary but also, they learn maths and how to use the money.
On the other hand, the activities are interactive and they need a computer to do it, and that's very interesting for them.

    Thanks for your great idea!
    Regards,
    Maite

  4. Hello Ana!

I really like this activity because I think that it is very useful and practical. In some years students will have to do it in real life so often and if they go abroad it is very likely that they need English to do that.

I like that first you provide some resources in order to allow students learn well the name of the food, etc. and you show them how to buy with coins and notes, as in real life.

I find the activity really interesting and useful.

    Regards,

    Ana
